Sonic Sound Festival 2010
As part of their BTEC course Year 10 students Harvey Palmer, Matthew Sivyer, Nathan Flores and Alan Mitchell organised a small festival which was held at the Carlisle. They applied for and received a grant from the Youthbank Council Fund, by submitting an application form and budget sheets.
The event was planned over several months and the process included designing posters, booking a venue, organizing sound equipment and advertising. They used social networking sites such as facebook and myspace to promote the festival. The students invited several local bands to participate, which included Soul Sanctuary, Behind Closed Doors, Acres Of Life, No Interest, Chris Cowan (from Day Release) and Sam Wills.
The students said that they were very pleased with the event which was attended by around 100 people and raised over £200 for Barnardos. They wish to thank everybody who helped and participated and are planning to organize another festival over two days next year.
